About Me
Hi, my name is Romain and I’m a software engineer. I have experience in web application development as well as creating desktop ui and web sites.
I am most skilled in: Python and Django
Experience
“With a wide range of out-of-the-box and custom connectors, Adverity collects and processes data from all relevant sources.”
Within a backend engineer team, we develop and maintain an ETL platform for marketing agencies and eCommerce business. My tasks involve:
- Implementing efficient big data algorithms in Python
- Developing and maintaining a Django Monolithic app using technologies like Celery, Pytest, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Designing and maintaining an internal REST api
- Working on frontend tasks that involve Javascript, Django and React.
“Our job is not about programming. It’s about connecting the shop around the corner with the people from the street.”
Within a team of 5 developers, we are in charge of maintaining a platform of more than 6000 websites for small and medium businesses. My tasks involve :
- Developing and integrating micro-services written in Django, using technologies like Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ, SQL, etc.
- Deploying and monitoring these applications with Docker, Fabric, Grafana and Prometheus.
- Developing and integrating Wordpress features (plugins) written in PHP.
- Working on frontend tasks that involve language, frameworks and libraries like Javascript, Django, Bootstrap, Chart.js and React.
My apprenticeship at Cisco for 3 years was a rich first experience, working in an international context in collaboration with Indian, Israeli and US teams.
Within an integration SCRUM team, I worked on:
- Developing monitoring tools in Django using ElectricFlow, Morris.js, SQL, and the ELK Stack.
- Developing and integrating web templates for a prototype set-top-box showed at the IBC Amsterdam.
- Making scripts, web and desktop internal tools using Python, Pyqt5 and Android.
For two months I worked and supported local teams in Bangalore (India) on a cloud application written in Node.js and Pytest.
I was part of the development of an autonomous monitoring system using Bluetooth sensors. The embedded system gathers data from various types of sensors that were placed in strategic locations. This data was then:
- Sent via Bluetooth on a Raspberry PI like computer.
- Published on a MQTT broker.
- Displayed and monitored on a dashboard writen in HTML5 and Javascript.

Projects
This is the project that i made to modify the content of the main app (see below)
I started this project on my free time as a way of learning Django and it has since grown into a fully website, exposing a rest api on the backend and using bootstrap and jquery on the frontend.
This is the project i realized during my European Project Semester in the Oslo and Akershus University College
I worked on this project in collaboration with Norwegian nurses, having regular feedback on the project until delivered. The app aims to promote infant feeding to immigrant parents by displaying chosen content on a tablet during periodic meeting between parents and nurses.
